About the Role
Neonatal Registered Nurses manage intensive care for newborns using platforms like SAP, Workday, and Oracle, ensuring compliance and operational excellence in high-risk units.
A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Neonatal Qualified in the Paediatric ICU Ward, based at Life Beacon Bay Hospital, reporting to Michelle van Rooyen, Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic patient care and to collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives
Critical Outputs
To provide quality patient care by
- Providing quality basic and specialized nursing care
- Continual communication with the patient and family with regards to the patients condition
- Administering of medication in accordance to ethical, legal framework
- Review and comply with internal policies and protocols
- Ensuring quality management systems and initiatives are conducted according to the unit specification
- Advocate the patient by motivating acuity to the case management and notify the doctor of any limitations
Provide effective people management by
- Interacting and communicating with a multi-disciplinary team
- Provide training and development to ensure personal and professional growth
Effective cost management for staff and stock by
- Evaluating employee labour hours and manage debit and credit hours
- Minimizing unnecessary stock wastage and facilitating maintenance of equipment
Providing quality patient care by
- Identifying and ensuring staff undergo department specific micro orientation
- Ensuring daily care rounds are conducted and investigating complaints
- Providing accurate, appropriate and adequate information to patients and family members during hospitalization
Providing effective risk management (SHEQ & infection control) by
- Monitoring and implementing preventative measures to minimize risk
- Comply with ISO requirements in order to facilitate infection control
Conducting effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Identifying doctor’s preferences and stakeholders needs and implement in the working environment
Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Neonatal ICU
- Nursing Experience in Neonatal ICU and High Care
- Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
- Computer proficiency
- Driver’s license and ability to travel
