Research Assistant Insect Ecology (Roodeplaat) needed at Agricultural Research Council

Description

• Assist with mass-rearing of insects in the insectary.
• Provision and maintenance of test plants in nursery and glasshouse facilities.
• Assist with laboratory trails.
• Assist with field surveys and data collection.
• Assist with technology transfer initiative with farmers.
• Cleaning and basic maintenance of laboratory and field equipment.
• Records keeping for plant and insect production.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (or equivalent/RPL) ,
• Diploma in Plant Protection/Plant Production will be an advantage.
• Prior experience of insect and plant rearing will be an advantage.
• Basic level of computer literacy (email: data entry onto spreadsheets).
• Ability to undertake tasks without micro-supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team, under instruction .
• Able to travel and work in the field, with occasional extended work hours if required.
• Code B/EB drivers’ license.
• Driving experience would be an advantage.
