Work Description

• The Research Nurse performs clinical procedures and administers processes essential to continually improving standards of patient care according to professional protocol.

Technical Work Responsibilities

• Provide Clinical tasks
• Research-related tasks
• Administrative duties
• Liaison with internal and external stakeholders
• Review and assess data collected
• Collaborate with investigators
• Screen and recruit subjects for clinical studies

Requirements

Education

• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or 3 year Diploma in Nursing
• Registration with South African Nursing Council as a professional nurse

Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience in PHC, HIV/Aids, TB, PMTCT and STI
• 2 months’ experience in MS Office package
• Experience in Contraceptive counselling
• Experience in STI syndrome management
• Experience in Clinical Research (preferred)
• Experience in Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) provision (preferred)

• Valid Driver’s license
• Skills and Competencies
• Knowledge of Legislation
• Ability to work under pressure
• Provider initiated counselling
• Good phlebotomy  skills
• Study protocol
• Research methodology
• Intermediate computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics etc.
