Description
- Initiate, manage and contribute towards research projects.
- Assist in coordinating work activities and supervises allocated resources, if applicable.
- Adhere to financial administrative controls.
- Plan own work activities.
- Utilise and maintain facilities, material and equipment.
- Collect, capture and process data with basic analysis.
- Provide verbal and written reports on work activities and results.
- Comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of scientific presentations.
- Assist in optimising use of specialised equipment and/or processes and/or systems.
- Publish semi-scientific and peer reviewed reports/articles.
- Assist with the training of junior staff.
- Assist with technology transfer.
Requirements
- BSc Degree or BTech in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology or Degree in Natural/Life/Biological Sciences/Microbiology with specialisation in Molecular Biology.
- Minimum of 2 years applicable experience in research support in molecular biology applications.
- Knowledge of DNA molecular marker technology (molecular detection techniques, DNA extraction, PCR and capillary electrophoresis).
- Knowledge of DNA/RNA sequencing technologies.
- Ability to liaise with Researcher on project progress and participation.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Valid driver’s license with proven driving experience.
- Proficiency in Ms office suite.
