Description

  • Initiate, manage and contribute towards research projects.
  • Assist in coordinating work activities and supervises allocated resources, if applicable.
  • Adhere to financial administrative controls.
  • Plan own work activities.
  • Utilise and maintain facilities, material and equipment.
  • Collect, capture and process data with basic analysis.
  • Provide verbal and written reports on work activities and results.
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of scientific presentations.
  • Assist in optimising use of specialised equipment and/or processes and/or systems.
  • Publish semi-scientific and peer reviewed reports/articles.
  • Assist with the training of junior staff.
  • Assist with technology transfer.

Requirements

  • BSc Degree or BTech in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology or Degree in Natural/Life/Biological Sciences/Microbiology with specialisation in Molecular Biology.
  • Minimum of 2 years applicable experience in research support in molecular biology applications.
  • Knowledge of DNA molecular marker technology (molecular detection techniques, DNA extraction, PCR and capillary electrophoresis).
  • Knowledge of DNA/RNA sequencing technologies.
  • Ability to liaise with Researcher on project progress and participation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with proven driving experience.
  • Proficiency in Ms office suite.
