In this Route Development Manager position   

  • Drive growth for AFR product based on the appointed trade lanes and drive the Field Sales community together with the AFR local management to focus on selected trade lanes as per the trade lane plan.

Pipeline

  • Drive the required pipeline together with local Sales management to ensure it reflects the chosen focus areas and is robust enough to deliver on the required volume growth and profitability.
  • Work with sales locally to ensure opportunities are moved through the funnel and ensure that the pipeline velocity matches the required volume target.
  • Drive effective pipeline reviews that are focused on real opportunities allowing profitable growth.

Go-to-Market Strategies

  • Provide guidance to the local sales team on where and what to sell, and personally engage in customer opportunities, including target customer characteristics.
  • Work with country sales to develop solid local growth plans and specific go-to-market strategies/value propositions, including focus customer/commodity/industry segments & customer target definitions from a product point of view.
  • Build and execute an annual program of activities to support the growth required, e.g. sales campaigns, must win RFQs, suggested investments required, etc.

Shipped To Profile (STP)

  • Drive country STP follow up on customer wins to ensure all won business materializes.

Pricing

  • Engaging Trade Management for a solid understanding of the current market developments and procurement levels, in order to ensure competitive pricing is available for Sales

Customer engagement

  • Engage relevant customer opportunities to support the local organization with a win strategy and pricing approach.
  • Sponsor several large local customers.

Overseas engagement

  • Drive engagement with overseas RDMs as per the trade plan and focus countries, especially the MEA RDM from a region perspective.

Local Carrier Management

  • Engage locally with carriers and procure as per Trade Management guidance.

Now, here’s what we need from you.

  • In-depth knowledge of the logistics industry especially the airfreight product both imports and exports.
  • In-depth knowledge of the different markets and trade lanes.
  • Clear result orientation and commercial mindset.
  • Strategic but action-oriented mindset which contributes to the business.
  • Strong commercial sense and motivation to serve the customers.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Strong Customer-facing and interaction skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills – spoken and written.
  • Outstanding negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • International travel required.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the airfreight forwarding industry.
  • Sales experience is an advantage.
  • Used to work in a multinational environment and in a large corporation.
  • Degree in Logistics/Supply Chain or a related field.
