  • The purpose of this position is to advise management in all matters related to legal requirements for Safety, Occupational Health and environment, as well as maintaining NOSA integrated safety systems. 

Minimum Requirements    

  •  National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent qualifications in Occupational, Health and Safety.
  •  Assured technical trade certificate will be an advantage.
  •  A minimum of 3 years working experience on safety, health and environmental issues in a heavy or medium engineering industry.
  •  A minimum of 3 years working experience on NOSA, ISO 45001 and ISO 14 001 system implementation and maintenance.
  •  Computer literacy (proficiency in Microsoft Office) is essential.
  •  Facilitation and coaching skills.
  •  Knowledge of risk assessment methodology.
  •  Knowledge of fire protection equipment and fire prevention techniques.
  •  Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  •  Must reside / be willing to relocate to +/- 30 Km from Malelane Mill.
  •  To be considered for appointment, candidate must be a South African citizen.

Duties & Responsibilities    

  •  Ensure that Corporate SHE policies, standards and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  •  Act as an adviser in all incident investigations, make sure they are closed and check effectiveness of preventive measures taken.
  •  Update and keep record of all legal appointments in accordance with the company policies, procedures and standards.
  •  Manage a team of SHE support staff.
  •  Administer Accident Prevention using the NOSA Integrated System in consultation with Management.
  •  Conduct SHE training needs analysis, make recommendations and arrange SHE training.
  •  Co-ordinate fire training Fire Team employees.
  •  Facilitate SHE induction for all employees and contractors and keep all relevant records on file.
  •  Facilitate and keep up to date risk assessments for site.
  •  Conduct audits based on the NOSA principles.
  •  Make information available to the business to enable improvement in the understanding of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality principles and procedures.
