Steward safety in the Zone teams by integrating self into the various Maintenance and Operations safety forums (e.g. Toolbox talks) providing the necessary guidance, addressing concerns and at all times role-modelling the desired safety behaviors by working with Various Company Safety Officers, Astron Energy Company reps, Operations Personnel and Maintenance Crews to Steward Safety in the Field.
- Manage all Safety issues as required by the OHS ACT.
- Ensure that all requirements in terms of the Act and in particular in terms of the Construction Regulations are met.
- Ensure that all Tanks and Capital Project appointed contractors comply with the Astron Energy HES & Construction Regulations requirements.
- Support Project Managers with the Construction work Permit process.
- Support Project Manager with the selection and appointment of a construction Health and Safety Agent where required for their projects.
- Provide guidance to Project manager with regards to whether a Construction work permit is required or notification of construction work is required for their projects.
- Perform HSE inspections at Site offices and project sites.
- Perform job observation on employees and contractors
- Carry out risk assessments prior to the commencement of construction work and any other risk assessment that may be required for the duration of the construction work.
- Prepare HSE weekly and monthly reports for each project.
- Prepare HSE documents for new projects.
- Conduct Incident Investigations.
- Conduct Safety Site Walks with Project Managers, Leads and RLT.
- Conduct Inductions with New or relocated employees/ Subcontractor’s on site
- Attend Project weekly progress meetings.
- Attend Project and Tanks Safety meetings on a weekly basis.
- Attend Project Safety Leadership Meeting on a Monthly basis.
- Attend Hazard Identification Meetings.
- Report deviations to Project managers.
Steward and coach colleagues in all aspects of the execution of LPS in the Field. This includes the following:
- Conduct Field Observations (TSPA’s)
- Use and Re-inforce the use of Stop work Authority in the field
- Raise NLI/LI’s in IMPACT ERM using Green Cards
- Conduct Field LPO’s and addressing LPS findings ensuring questionable items are dealt with swiftly.
- Reinforce the use of LPSA’s in the Field
- Address LPS findings immediately with relevant Stakeholders
- Be first Point of contact for Emergencies and Incidents
- Ensure First Aid Notifications are Sent out Timeously by providing required incident information
- Report and address (if possible) any Adverse/Unsafe conditions noted on-site (e.g. Environmental spills; unsafe steam leaks; etc.) to the Relevant Stakeholders or Departments for actioning
- Partake or/and Assist in Incident Investigations as and when required
Administration
- Capture safety related information on a daily basis, consolidate and report to Safety Team Lead on a weekly basis, discussing trends, themes and risks, and making recommendations for improvement / change
Professional Qualification and Certifications:
- Degree in Environmental Health/ Safety Management or equivalent
Work Experience:
- 5years and more years Operational Experience in Occupational Health and Safety or Compliance
- Experience in Construction Industry will be an added advantage
- SAMTRAC
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment/Analysis
- Accident and Incident Investigation
