What is the job about?

  • Are you passionate about driving sales and developing new opportunities? As a Sales Engineer at Grundfos, you’ll be responsible for driving sales to Commercial Building Services customers in South Africa.
  • You’ll develop new sales opportunities and while maintaining recurring business with existing customers, sharing market knowledge within the team to strengthen Grundfos’s business results and market share.
  • You’ll also participate in and drive trainings for customers and potential new customers to raise awareness of Grundfos offerings.
  • This role reports to the Sales Manager CBS Sub-Saharan Africa and you will collaborate closely with other Sales Engineers across the region and internal teams. Together, we create a supportive and innovative environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.
  • This role is based ideally in or around Johannesburg, South Africa.

What you’ll do:
As our new Sales Engineer, you will:

  • Independently grow sales within your area of responsibility.
  • Build deep market knowledge and identify opportunities for Grundfos solutions.
  • Engage with stakeholders across customer organizations to drive value.
  • Maintain a high-quality opportunity pipeline and strong hit rate.
  • Introduce new products and solutions and monitor performance metrics.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure a customer-centric experience.
  • Consult with engineers on design work/specifications
  • Share knowledge and continuously develop your own competencies.
  • Represent Grundfos values and contribute to our “One Company” culture.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering and/or business management.
  • 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in the hydraulic market serving the commercial business industry
  • A strong understanding of local market dynamics, systems, and regulations
  • Proven ability to lead processes or projects and influence stakeholders
  • Solid knowledge of sales planning and execution in a technical environment
  • Effective communication at all levels with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Frequent travel is expected
  • Fluency in English is required

Career Growth & Education

A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is the standard entry point, often followed by specialized certifications in fluid dynamics or green building technologies. Moving into senior sales engineering or regional management requires a blend of technical mastery and business acumen, which can be developed through an MBA or advanced project management courses.
