About the Role

The Sales Manager drives high-RPM commercial growth by managing regional market data and ensuring 100% compliance with global brand and distribution standards. Utilizing SAP for resource orchestration and Salesforce for client management, the manager reduces operational risk in high-volume FMCG sales. Their leadership leverages data-driven insights to optimize route-to-market efficiency and ensures the commercial success of the group’s Northern Cape operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the sales, promotions, and campaigns of sales activities with the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Make data-informed decisions to develop trade plan, drive performance and inform resource allocation.
  • Ensure products/ brands are available widely in assigned sales area.
  • Optimize resources to achieve sales targets.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage quarterly Sales Plan.
  • Analyze and identify growth opportunities with measurement and tracking for reporting purposes.
  • Monitor Sales Consultant adherence to Call strike rate.
  • Develop strong customer relations through frequent communication, professional, courteous, and ethical interpersonal interactions.
  • Identify emerging markets to find new sales opportunities.
  • Procure market intelligence and develop appropriate action plans when necessary.
  • Monitor Accessibility, Availability and Affordability compliance vs noncompliance.
  • Share and implement new and innovative ideas to improve sales and the effectiveness of the sales teams.
  • Coach the Sales Consultants on Sales best practice.
  • Prepare sales budgets, projections and approve expenditure.
  • Track, analyze and report on sales statistics based in key quantitative metrics.
  • Conduct in-trade audits, measuring the team’s impact in the trade.
  • Enable teams to gain market share growth.
  • Conduct on the job training and Coaching.
  • Plan and direct the hiring and training of new Sales Representatives.
  • Institute discipline when required.
  • Follow Newco’s policies and procedures and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years sales experience.
  • Relevant experience within the Alcoholic Beverage or broader FMCG industry would be preferable.
  • The ability to identify and define problems and make balanced and sound decisions.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Strong numerical and business acumen experience
  • High levels of energy, persistence, drive as well as a sense of urgency.

Career Growth & Education

A degree in Business Management, Marketing, or Economics is mandatory, alongside extensive experience in regional sales leadership. Career progression leads toward Regional Sales Director or Head of Commerce roles within the global FMCG sector. Participating in executive leadership programs and obtaining professional certifications in digital supply chain management provides a pathway to high-paying global leadership positions.

Salary & Financial Insight

Estimated monthly salaries range from R55,000 to R95,000, plus performance-linked bonuses and car allowances. High-income managers should prioritize professional wealth management and offshore investment diversification to protect their long-term capital growth.
