- An international power generation solutions provider is establishing and expanding its footprint in South Africa and the broader sub-Saharan region. The Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in developing market presence, opening sales and distribution channels, and driving revenue growth across multiple industries including construction, mining, telecommunications, healthcare, residential, and industrial sectors. This hands-on role focuses on identifying opportunities, managing key accounts, presenting technical solutions, and closing deals—particularly within generator sets and customised power solutions, while building and leading a high-performing sales function aligned with international headquarters
Minimum Requirements:
- Own reliable vehicle with valid License
- Sales / Management qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the generator, energy, or power generation sector
- Proven sales and technical knowledge of power generation products and applications
- Established network with distributors, installers, designers, EPCs, and corporate buyers
- Strong strategic thinking combined with a practical, results-driven approach
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
- Ability and willingness to travel locally and internationally when required
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
- Additional exposure to commercial management, technical sales, or project environments advantageous
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a national sales strategy aligned with regional and global objectives
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across public and private sector markets
- Establish, manage, and grow distribution channels including resellers and representatives
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key B2B accounts, EPCs, rental companies, and integrators
- Conduct technical and commercial site visits to assess customer needs and propose solutions
- Prepare, present, and negotiate sales proposals with technical, procurement, and executive stakeholders
- Drive active prospecting and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to close
- Oversee and grow the client portfolio while ensuring long-term relationship management
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and generate actionable market intelligence
- Coordinate closely with engineering, logistics, after-sales, and international teams
- Maintain accurate pipeline reporting, forecasting, and sales performance metrics
- Ensure CRM systems are consistently updated and sales processes are followed
- Support tender submissions, after-sales activities, and customer technical support
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions to build brand presence
- Recruit, manage, and lead the sales team as the operation scales
- Achieve sales targets and KPIs as defined by executive leadership
