Job Description
- Part of your duties, will include planning and Divisional Mine Planning in consultation with the production team, ensuring plans are practical and effective by working with the operational teams. You will also develop plans and schedules that optimise assets within the constraints of practical considerations for the operation.
More of your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the development of effective mine plans and schedules: 5-year, 2 year, annual, monthly and weekly forecast, with annual Life of Mine Planning and Budget Planning and with the optimisation of reserves and reconciliations
- Comparing budgeted production with historical figures and predicted figures in terms of both quality and quantity, develop realistic alternatives and recommend Cost alternatives
- Documenting all assumptions, decisions, plans and production statistics, ensure plans are aligned with reserves and provide Technical Expertise to Production team e.g., Production Targets
- Running the life of mine model to develop schedules, moves and block rankings and strategic dyke work
- Ensuring reasonable production profile for as long as possible and integration of planning and scheduling with Operations
- Identifying risks/ critical points of the plan and liaise with Operational teams to ensure Plans, Schedules and Operations are aligned
- Preparing ad hoc reports on key findings and key proposals and assist with Mine Management presentations, legal applications, and renewals
- Assisting with compilation of the annual budget presentations and documentation as well as quantifying y the financial impact of changes to business plans and strategic plans as well as clear understanding of the drivers that affect or detract value from the operations
- Assisting and participating in the effective asset optimisation of the operations Mine Planning Processes and Capabilities
Qualifications
- B Tech / Diploma / Degree in Mining/ Engineering or a related (NQF 7)
- AA Plc Safety Course: A3
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (UG) would be advantageous
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) would be advantageous
Experience & Knowledge
- Basic experience in a Mining production environment if in possession of a degree
- In-depth experience in a Mining Production environment if in possession of a Diploma
- Experience in a Mine Planning Environment will be an advantage
- Experience in Mine Planning software will be advantageous
Additional Information
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mine Health and Safety Act, Environmental Legislation and the Minerals Act
- An understanding of the Anglo Safety, Health and Environmental Way
- An understanding of Mining Value Based Management Principles and Asset Optimisation linked to the Anglo Coal Way
- A solid understanding of the Operational value chain in Opencast / Underground Operations.
- Generalist knowledge of the different disciplines in the Mining Industry
- Fully conversant with CAD and Mine Planning Software
- Abreast of Best Practices and New Technologies relating to Mine Planning, Design and Mining Operations
- An in-depth knowledge of various mining methods and mining technologies
