Security Supervisor: IVP-ENG-2503 needed at Ivanhoe Mines

• IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this “mine of the future”. 

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12
• NQF level 6 Diploma in Policing/Risk and Security Management
• Grade A Security Course with PSIRA Registration
• Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
• 5 -10 years’ experience with SAPS
• 5- 10 years’ experience in Mining security will be advantageous.
• Security managers must be perceptive, communicate well with others and have the ability to lead and manage workers.
• Good Human Relations

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Updating the various security technology and complex industry trends for safety.
• Responsible for performing and analysing the annual risk analysis for the country, related to the crime, terrorism, workplace violence, threats from natural and manmade disasters.
• Providing proper advice and counselling to the line management on various security policies and practices.
• Developing and implementing the security coordinator programs and measures for providing proper training and guiding the coordinators
• Protect a company’s assets and people from invasion and harm.
• Perform services to assure the safety and protection of company property and personnel against injury or molestation, harassment or intimidation and loss or damage from any preventable cause including fire, theft, embezzlement, damage or destruction, trespass, espionage, or sabotage.
• Maintain and update a property loss and prevention program
• Evaluate incidents and determine course of action.
• Discover source of security breach.
• Patrol building and ward off intruders
• Supervise parking procedures
• Monitor and support security-related processing for cleared staff
