Job Description

• Our client, a specialist in the manufacturing sector is looking for a Senior Buyer based in Pinetown, KZN   
• The successful candidate will play a key role in operational success by ensuring all raw materials are sourced and delivered on time and in full to meet production demands

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cost Control

• Monitor raw material budgets and overall spend.
• Drive and support cost-reduction initiatives and projects.
• Track and minimise price variances.
• Negotiate supplier pricing and payment terms.
• Expedite raw materials and components in line with budget and approved pricing.
• Ensure supplier price updates are implemented as per agreements.
• Monitor outsourced supplier stock levels to ensure compliance with stock policy.

Supplier Management

• Track and manage daily supplier delivery performance (OTIF).
• Oversee supplier agreements (Supply Agreements & SLAs) for all direct material and component suppliers.
• Ensure all suppliers comply with BBBEE requirements.
• Compile and distribute monthly supplier performance reports.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier risks.

Expediting

• Generate purchase orders according to production requirements.
• Ensure suppliers receive, acknowledge, and confirm all orders.
• Follow up on and resolve shortages or late deliveries of raw materials and components.
• Escalate to management any delays or shortages that may impact production.
• Manage stock levels of outsourced parts and raw materials.

Administration

• Compile and maintain the raw material budget, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies and targets.
• Prepare supplier forecasts and communicate them timeously.
• Manage supplier RFQs.
• Ensure all purchasing processes and procedures are kept updated and filed in line with company policy.
• Assist with departmental and finance-related queries.
• Produce required departmental reports.

Minimum Requirements:

• Degree in Purchasing / Supply Chain
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Syspro experience advantageous
