Responsibilities
- Oversee category campaign planning, including flow plans and margin control, ensuring all product and BOM listings are accurate for catalogue inclusion.
- Review and update selling prices, codes, and descriptions, aligning them with overall strategy.
- Evaluate campaign effectiveness and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Drive market analysis and competitive insights to inform category buying strategies, identifying market gaps and customer needs.
- Lead the product selection process, ensuring alignment with customer preferences and market trends.
- Manage the product development cycle from supplier briefing and quote review to product completion, ensuring quality, compliance, and industry standards are met.
- Conduct monthly reviews of catalogue performance, analysing KPIs such as sales value, margin, GP%, and units sold, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with demand planning to align stock levels with sales forecasts, ensuring optimal inventory management.
- Develop and execute strategic plans for campaigns, brand guidelines, and product training, ensuring smooth execution across teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, pricing, and terms to secure the best possible deals.
- Monitor supplier performance, working with operations to resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, and compliance.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels, reducing excess stock, and managing slow-moving items.
- Collaborate with demand planning to align stock levels with campaign plans and sales forecasts.
- Manage the buying budget, ensuring purchasing activities stay within financial constraints and reporting key financial metrics such as cost savings and profitability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a buying role, preferably in the retail sector.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
