  • Registered with HPCSA as a Specialist General Surgeon
  • At least 1 year’s post-qualification experience in academic General Surgery
  • Demonstrable teaching experience at postgraduate level
  • Demonstrable research supervision experience at master’s level
  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal abilities
  • Familiarity with web-based learning tools

Responsibilities include:

  • Curriculum development and quality improvement of the MMed General Surgery program
  • Co-ordination of the MMed program in the Division
  • Clinical MMed Supervision and workplace-based assessment
  • Mentoring (including research supervision and co-supervision) of post-graduate students in the Division of General Surgery
  • Assistance with post graduate training programme across the Department of Surgery
  • Assisting the Division to improve Research outputs through development of own research interests, as well as the divisional research supervision capacity
  • Clinical service delivery within the Division of General Surgery
