Description

Job Description

  • Positioned within a prestigious boutique commercial litigation practice in Somerset West, this central role is critical for driving precision, document execution, and high-level administrative support for the founding partner. Operating in an environment with a workload, pressure, and flow akin to working with senior advocates, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive assistance on complex High Court litigation and commercial matters. This full-time, on-site position requires a dedicated professional seeking long-term stability and a career destination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • High-Precision Transcription: Transcribe and format complex audio dictations efficiently, maintaining an absolute commitment to linguistic accuracy and exact specifications.
  • Litigation Management: Prepare, format, and finalise legal documents, including intricate pleadings and notices, ensuring absolute adherence to High Court rules and legal processes.
  • Executive PA Support: Provide proactive, comprehensive personal assistant support to the founding partner, managing calendar commitments, travel logistics, and high-priority correspondence.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary, professional interface between the partner, clients, and senior legal stakeholders, managing all communication with absolute discretion and diplomacy.
  • File & Information Governance: Maintain impeccable physical and electronic case files, tracking strict litigation deadlines and protecting highly sensitive legal data.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience as a litigation or legal secretary within a reputable law firm environment. Prior experience specifically supporting senior advocates or high-profile litigation partners would be beneficial.
  • Dictation Mastery: Proven track record of fast, high-accuracy dictation typing (minimum typing speed of 60–70 words per minute required).
  • Litigation Expertise: Substantial, verifiable experience handling commercial litigation cases and preparing High Court legal documents.
  • Language Proficiency: First-language (mother-tongue) English proficiency with excellent written and verbal command, structural editing, and proofreading capabilities.
  • Ability to speak and understand the German language would be beneficial.
  • Professional Stability: A career history reflecting long-term commitment and stability, with a distinct desire to remain in this pivotal team role for the long term.

Benefits

  • Remote work is not an option due to the highly interactive, hands-on nature of the support required.
  • Office hours: 08h30 - 17h00. Micro-flexibility on offer for the experienced candidate.
  • Performance based annual bonus.
  • Two week closure over the December / Christmas holidays.
