Job Purpose

  • This role will be responsible to formulate Insure’s Digital strategy and drive the implementation ensuring that we build an internal digital capability, capability for our intermediated Broker and Partner community. This role plays a crucial role in guiding and overseeing the development of software in various projects and BAU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute on Insure’s Digital strategy.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in bringing the Business Architecture input into the Digital strategy.
  • Participate and contribute to the architecture design forum
  • Review technical designs and guide technical teams into implementing sound architecture
  • Co-ordinate Insure’s digital initiatives and align to strategy.
  • Communicate the roll out implementation and change plan and associated road map in the adoption of digital technologies across Insure.
  • Ensure that the execution of the strategy is in alignment with our Groups overall Digital aspirations.
  • Lead the process to set and agree targets for the Digital Maturity Score and to co-ordinate the process to measure Insure against the Framework once a quarter.
  • Research products, services, to identify new opportunities whilst ensuring alignment to digital strategy to enable a more efficient and automated service delivery.
  • Manage the budget associated with the Digital projects, report on and propose risk mitigation for identified risks.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Lead the development, improvement and modification of Insure’s digital systems

PEOPLE, TALENT MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP

  • Lead teams of developers, supporting them in using Agile practices and software solutions that are fit for purpose
  • Lead and manage the change impact on People associated with adoption and execution of SAFe, DevOps and New ways of work
  • Development & maintenance of a competent team, providing leadership, succession and talent management through open communication and delegation of responsibilities
  • Identifies and resolves gaps in skills, processes, and resources and provides informal and formal coaching support to team in their personal and professional development.
  • Team & Employee Growth: Take responsibility for team’s and own career growth and have regular discussions with the relevant role players. Ensure succession and talent management
  • In conjunction with HR, Recruit, select and retain highly qualified professionals
  • Create a working environment where productivity can be sustained and accomplished and where innovation and personal growth is encouraged and realized.
  • Translation of and implementation of the Hollard Way, culture and values in the team
  • Capability to plan resources within a 6-month horizon

CUSTOMER SERVICE & TCF

  • Maintain a high level of service to customers (internal and external) according to the service standards set by the company.
  • Ensure customers are treated fairly and that TCF management & training is done in conjunction with the Academy
  • To ensure that customer service standards are maintained in accordance with service level agreements and to assist with technical advice and other assistance over and above the normal business systems duties.

Required Knowledge and Experience    
Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience managing Digital teams or technology teams
  • Minimum 10 years of software development experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in delivering software within the Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Financial services experience specifically in Short Term Insurance
  • Cloud (Azure or AWS), Integration/API, Digital Systems Experience & an understanding of Digital
  • Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Thorough understanding of the SDLC
  • System Architecture: Knowledge of system architecture and design principles.
  • Quality Assurance: Familiarity with testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Tools and Technologies: Experience with development tools such as version control systems (e.g., Git), integrated development environments (IDEs), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Educational Requirements    
Required Qualifications

  • Matric essential
  • IT Degree (Computer Science/ Information Technology)
  • SAFe/ Agile/ Project Management Certification
