Key Performance Areas:
- Effective Management of Student Debtors.
- Effective and efficient management of Student Financial Clearances.
- Review and reconciliation of Funder accounts & Student Fee statements.
- Effective and efficient management of student refunds, Student allowances, and any other payments to students (merit awards, academic awards, etc.)
- Development and Implementation of policies, guidelines, and processes relating to Student Debtors.
Reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
- M+4, Postgraduate in Accounting or equivalent.
- 7 years’ experience in which accounting competencies have been gained, with a specific focus on Debt Collection.
- SAICA registration (registered accountant) will be an added advantage.
- Experience in Higher Education will be advantageous
Key Competencies
- Knowledge and understanding of the value and importance of internal financial controls.
- Knowledge and understanding of account reconciliations.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial and accounting policies and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the full student funding cycle, including invoicing, collections, refunds, allowances, and third-party payments.
- Ability to interpret and implement debt policies and MANCO directives.
- Ability to use financial systems, reporting tools, and student information systems.
- Ability to develop, implement, and review student debtor policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Ability to compile comprehensive and consolidated financial reports and statements.
- Ability to compile, implement, and review payment plans for student debt.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Ability to work with senior management and other relevant stakeholders in the institution to provide student financial insights and advice.
- Excellent judgement, analytical and critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- A strong focus on customer service to students and all other stakeholders.
