Senior People And Conservation Officer – Living Alongside Wildlife Job at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• Relevant 3 Year Tertiary Qualification or B Degree (environmental education, nature conservation or similar relevant qualification)
• 2-5 years relevant experience
• Practical experience in managing or supporting programmes relating to urban wildlife management, including baboon management/ seal-human interactions/ African penguin conservation/ damage-causing animal management.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, community outreach, conflict resolution, implementation of management plans, and collaboration with conservation agencies and partner organisations.
• Marine and coastal law enforcement management experience advantageous.
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence
• Computer Literacy: MS Office suite

Special Conditions:

• Required to work in all weather conditions and work outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned activities in inclement weather conditions. Undertake site inspections City wide.
• Skippers licence advantageous.
• The performance of tasks associated with specific key performance areas in this post necessitates that the incumbent be physically fit and able bodied.

Key Performance Areas

• Manage the stakeholder and public engagement of the Living alongside Wildlife Programme. Community engagement and awareness
• Implement Living Alongside Wildlife people and conservation programmes in the Coastal Management Branch, evaluating the effectiveness of programmes and writing reports for the City and/or funding bodies
• Engaging with stakeholders, undertaking outreach, proactive community conservation, promoting the Living with Wildlife programme
• Developing strategic people and conservation programmes, plans, protocols and policy
