Senior Professional Officer – Transport Systems needed at City of Cape Town

Requirements

•  B Tech or first Degree in Engineering, Science or other relevant field
•  Minimum 5 years’ experience in public transport strategic planning
•  Eligibility/Registration from an accredited professional body
•  Experience must include experience in performing public transport planning
•  Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills
•  A valid driver’s licence

Key Performance Areas

•  Developing the full phase Integrated Public Transport Network (IPTN) plan and phasing plan.
•  Conduct research in the latest development in the integrated public transport planning discipline
•  Developing the IPTN phasing plan at metro wide, corridor and other levels
•  Formulating strategies and systems for input into the annual update of the integrated Transport Plan (ITP) and its 5-yearly review
•  Foster alignment between the IPTN plans and the national, provincial and City’s plan in order to promote integrated planning and implementation
•  Providing guidance on spatial development, growth strategies and major development and its impact on the IPTN system
•  Identifying emerging issues, developing and implementing new approaches and/or refining the project strategies to generate desired results as efficiently as possible
•  Drafting reports, presentations and correspondence containing complex information and responding to queries and requests
•  Facilitating technical dialogue with integrated transport planning and other strategic branches in the City
