Purpose of the role:
- Maintain Food Safety and Quality management system. Ensure that the correct quality standard. Keep food safety and quality systems maintained
Minimum Requirements
- 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Food Technology / B.Sc. Microbiology, or recognized equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years food processing (FMCG) experience or a Minimum of 3 years in baking experience in Quality Management.
- Minimum of 3 years in supervisory or managerial role
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the Food Safety and Quality Management system
- Improving customer relationships.
- Responsible for plant audits and customer complaints (CC)
- Monitor and investigate all customer complaints and returns.
- Assist SHEQ Cooridinator with maintaining and updating certification and customer systems, contractual, regulatory and internal specifications.
- Liaise with management on non-conforming issues.
- Controlling all functions associated with the raw material inspection and reporting of non-conformances to the QA manager.
- Reporting on Compliance and Regulatory standards.
- Statistical/Trends analysis – CC and Microbial
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 22 000/FSSC 22 000
Audits
Internal:
- Compiles and maintains internal audit schedules ensuring high risk areas are prioritized
- Arranges audits with relevant managers to ensure participation and clear communication
- Communicates audit findings to management
- Arrange follow up audits with relevant managers
- Verifies audit findings are actioned and closed effectively
- Compares internal audit findings against external audit findings to identify gaps
- Maintains internal audit system data and integrity
External:
- Understands the criteria required for external audits across all divisions
Participates in audits
- Ensure audit findings are actioned and closed effectively
Communication and Reporting
- Completes reports and distribute to relevant managers and role players
- Completes weekly, monthly reports on compliance issues and progress
- Compile, present and preparing yearly Management Review presentations / minutes
- Compile, conducting and preparing monthly Food Safety Meetings / minutes
NPD
- Assist with NPD trials & feedback
- Compile product specification, FPI pack copies, quality contracts and pack line sheets.
- Approve artwork
- Conducting PPC Audits
QA Staff
- Managing and Developing QA Staff
- Complete/verify Bestime or any other clocking system of staff on a daily basis
- Developing staff
- Evaluating staff (4 1)
- Managing staff training
- Managing staff discipline
- Regular staff meeting on issues and progress
Training
- Identify training needs and assist with arranging training
- Assist with systems and quality parameters training where possible
SQA
- Assist SQA Department with supplier / service provider audits
Knowledge and skills:
- ISO systems (FSSC 22 000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001)
- Industry Standards
