Key Performance Output

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Manager Aviation Regulatory Standards and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Lead development of strategies, frameworks, policies and procedures for managing Aviation Safety and ARFF to comply with relevant legislations… 
  • Define the standards for reporting of safety incidents and automate as far as possible. 
  • Define the standards for regulatory compliance for example Safety Management Systems and documentation.
  • Lead research on best practices and identify improvement to Safety and ARFF initiatives.
  • Manage implementation and continuous improvement of Aviation Safety and ARFF Management solutions in accordance to aerodrome requirements.
  • Advice and report to management on legal requirements, developments and compliance in respect of aviation safety and ARFF.
  • Ensure compliance to CAA requirements.
  • Ensure stakeholder adherence and commitment to all safety and ARFF policies, procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Convene and facilitate the safety and ARFF committees and forums as well as participating in Civil Aviation Regulations Committees and other non-mandatory committees
  • Accountable for operational team performance through effective management within policies and procedures to ensure achievement of standards/objectives.
  • Agree and implement own and sub-ordinates development plans.
  • Ensure effective management of relevant Aviation Safety, ARFF and environmental information required for submission by the operational departments
  • Manage the Hazard identification and risk assessment process within the airport network for safety and ARFF functions in compliance with legislation and international best practices.
  • Investigation and reporting of incidents and accidents as well as the design and implementation of remedial actions and verifies actions taken are effective.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required: 

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree (4 years – 480 credits) in Aviation and/or Fire Fighting or relevant qualification at same level is essential. 
  • 6 years relevant operational experience in aviation and fire is essential. 
  • 5 years supervisory and stakeholder manager experience.
  • Code B driver’s license
  • MS Office Advanced and CAD basic.
