Senior Specialist, Internal Auditor needed at AngloGold Ashanti

ABOUT THE ROLE 

• The Snr Specialist – Internal Auditor role provides independent, objective assurance over sustainability-related risks, controls, and reporting. This role supports the organization’s commitment to strong governance, ESG integrity, and continuous improvement by delivering high-quality sustainability audits and assurance engagements across global operations. 
• The role works closely with Internal Audit, Sustainability, Risk, and business stakeholders to evaluate processes, controls, and compliance against internal standards, regulatory expectations, and leading global frameworks.

WORK ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Sustainability Assurance & Audit Delivery

• Plan and deliver sustainability and ESG assurance audits, evaluating the effectiveness of controls over sustainability reporting and non-financial disclosures.

Risk & Control Assessment

• Identify sustainability-related and emerging ESG risks, assess control gaps, and provide practical recommendations to strengthen governance and risk management.

Standards, Frameworks & Compliance

• Assess alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and leading ESG and assurance frameworks to support consistent and high-quality assurance outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

• Partner with Internal Audit, Sustainability, Risk, and business stakeholders, including subject matter experts, to deliver effective assurance engagements.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare clear, concise audit documentation and reports, communicating sustainability and risk insights to management and senior stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

• Contribute to the enhancement of sustainability assurance methodologies while staying current with evolving ESG standards, regulations, and best practices.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Risk, Sustainability, or related field
• 3–5 years’ experience in internal audit, risk, or sustainability assurance
• Exposure to ESG reporting or non-financial assurance preferred
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, risk frameworks, and audit standards
• Professional certifications (CIA, CA, CPA, ESG-related) advantageous
