Qualifications and experience required:

  • All requirements applicable as being appointed as a Police member into Regulation 11 of South African Police Amendment Act i.e. Matric or equivalent NQF4 qualification; no criminal conviction, has permanent residence in Republic of South Africa, is proficient in English, and
  • A successfully completed prescribed Municipal Police qualification at an accredited Municipal Police Training facility; and
  • Is registered as a Traffic Officer in terms of the Road Traffic Act; and
  • NQF 6 (three years’ qualification) (i.e. ITO 3 or National Diploma in Municipal Policing or National Diploma in Traffic Safety Management or equivalent Policing qualifications).
  • Computer literacy – Office applications.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • Up to five years’ relevant supervisory experience in law enforcement, with at least three years on a managerial level.

Job purpose:

  • Managing and coordinating all functions within one geographical area within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality with regard to the provision of traffic enforcement, by-law enforcement, crime prevention and ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery through the implementation of applicable strategies, plans and policies. 
  • As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
