Senior Technician Microbiology needed at Vaal Central Water

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct timeous analysis of potable and wastewater samples.
• Supervise analytical work in the microbiological laboratory.
• Ensure well-captured analytical data of laboratory results.
• Participating in and interpreting PTS scheme results in compliance with water quality standards as per the quality management system.
• Conduct root cause analysis on non-conformance during audits, PTS outliers or any non-conforming work.
• Maintain stock levels and purchasing of all consumables including reference cultures.
• Report on all water quality failures to the regions, R&D and laboratory management.
• Must become SANAS approved Technical Signatory.
• Compile, implement and validate test methods and standard operating procedures
• Participate in in-house training of staff as per the training programs.
• Ensure maintenance of laboratory equipment for sterility and performance verification analysis.
• Conduct internal quality audits and keep abreast with the latest trends in the microbiology field.
• Must be able to work independently
• Ensure compliance with all aspects of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, acts and regulations, with good laboratory housekeeping.
• Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• B-Tech Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Natural Science.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory.
• Minimum of 1-year technician experience in Microbiology at supervisory level.
• Conducting analysis and maintaining a quality management system according to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Knowledge of parasite, vibrio species analytical methods.
• Competent in MS Office.
• Report writing skills.
• Valid Drivers’ License.
