About the Role

The Sergeant drives high-RPM public safety by managing regional security data and ensuring 100% compliance with national policing and municipal safety standards. Utilizing specialized data logging tools and ServiceNow for incident orchestration, the sergeant mitigates operational risk in community protection. Their leadership leverages data-driven diagnostics to optimize resource deployment and ensures the technical reliability of the municipal safety ecosystem.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • A relevant NQF5 qualification and National Diploma in Municipal Policing (three-year qualification) or National Diploma in Traffic Safety Management (three-year qualification) or equivalent Policing qualification; AND
  • All requirements applicable to be appointed as a Municipal Police member in terms of Regulation 11 of Regulations for Municipal Police Services, 1999.
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • Minimum of four years’ relevant experience in a municipal policing or similar environment.

  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English and at least one other official local language.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • High level of alertness.
  • Safety awareness and quick to respond when and where required.

Job purpose:

  • The effective execution of all activities, operations and interventions related to policing, in order to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient shifts during the execution of operational duties in relation to By-law Enforcement, Traffic Policing and Crime Prevention functions within the NMB Metropolitan area by taking charge of operational shifts during the execution of operational duties.

A National Senior Certificate and specialized training at a recognized police academy are mandatory foundations. Career progression leads toward Inspector or Captain roles through mastering public safety governance and digital policing tools.
