Duties and responsibilities:

Operations and control

  • Operating mowing and other gardening equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is signed out and returned to store daily.
  • Submit inspection report weekly.
  • General maintenance and cleaning of gardens and terrain within working hours.
  • Follow the daily program schedule or as instructed by line manager.
  • Complete schedule according to University Estates operational standards, procedures and protocols.
  • Litter picking and loading of general garden refuse.
  • Report any work-related concerns to the line manager.

Internal Reporting

  • Reporting, feedback to line manager – supervisor.
  • Maintenance program and checklist sign off and submissions.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all grounds/terrain are maintained within accordance to standard procedures and specifications.
  • Ensure cleaning of equipment and workspace.
  • Ensure safe working procedures.
  • Comply with health and safety standards.
  • Comply with PPE clothing.
  • Upkeep of equipment to health and safety standards.

Inherent requirements:

  • Grade 10 on NQF Level 2 (attach proof).
  • Relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities.

Recommendations:

  • Minimum one (1) year of applicable work experience in operating gardening equipment.
  • Machine operating certificate (attach a copy).
