MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification / Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12
- Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in materials handling, logistics, or supply chain roles, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory position.
- Knowledge and working experience of SAP systems and processes / transactions
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Report writing and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Comfortable working in an industrial environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varyingtemperatures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of stores personnel
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth and efficient material flow.
- Conduct shift meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance expectations.
- Train and mentor team members on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Materials Management:
- Oversee the receiving, storage, and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate tracking of materials using inventory management software.
- Coordinate with production, purchasing, and shipping departments to maintain the availability of materials for production needs.
- Ensure proper documentation of material transactions, ensuring data accuracy and timely entry into systems.
Process Optimization:
- Identify areas for improvement in material handling processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work closely with the management team to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to material flow, equipment, or personnel that may impact production.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and report on key performance metrics (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, material availability, and shift productivity.
- Provide feedback to team members on performance and address any areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with other shift leaders and managers to ensure consistency across shifts.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Monitor the condition and performance of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Schedule regular maintenance and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the maintenance team.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and maintain cleanliness and organization in the materials handling area.
- Address and report any safety concerns or violations immediately.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
