About the role

GVI is looking for an expert in social media management and strategy to lead the charge in significantly growing our online presence. The goal of the Social Media Manager & Strategist is to significantly grow GVI’s social media followers on key platforms, focusing on a Gen-Z audience. 

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role will lead our social media channels within the organisation to develop a best-in-class social media program. You will be responsible for defining and shaping the brand’s online presence and rapidly growing our following across social media platforms. As Social Media Manager & Strategist, you will ideate, plan, script and brief all content, and collaborate closely with video content creators to make it happen.

 About you

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social media management & strategy, content planning and scripting, community management and social media analysis, with a focus on driving follower growth, engagement, brand awareness, and lead generation. Experience in brand strategy is extremely advantageous.

This job is for you if:

  • You’re a social media expert, with a keen eye for defining and shaping a new social media strategy & inputting into brand strategy. 
  • You’ve driven significant growth, or have experience managing large accounts on IG or TT, and feel you can apply these skills to GVI’s accounts.
  • You understand the content which engages a UK and US based Gen Z audience. Have you travelled significantly and understand our customer mindset? Even better. 
  • You can quickly and easily ideate, plan, script & brief in multiple videos to global content creators, with a knack for understanding video hooks. 
  • You’re ambitious, commercial and ready to achieve new milestones at GVI. 
  • You have your finger on the pulse of the latest social media changes, algorithm changes and Gen Z online behaviours and trends – and will be quick to act on it.

Specific responsibilities

Social & brand strategy

  • Collaborate with the Communications Strategist to design growth and engagement-focused strategies across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn. Rapid growth on Instagram and TikTok is your priority. 

Social expert

  • Own social media. Be our internal expert on organic social media strategy, content, platforms, developments and trends, bringing the latest insights to grow our social reach and engagement.
  • Actively monitor social media for breaking news and trending topic opportunities and join these conversations quickly.

Management 

  • Conduct weekly social media meetings to align all stakeholders on priorities, strategies, and operational requirements. 

Content planning

  • Post 5x days a week and share stories every week day, with additional organic posting throughout the week depending on activities, or as agreed in the social media strategy.
  • Ideate, brief, script and collaborate with the Content Creator [videographer & editor], enabling them to produce +- 25 polished organic social videos a month.
  • Ideate, brief, script and collaborate with the field teams so that they can provide 30 videos a month.
  • Ideate, brief, script and work closely with regional content creators so that they can provide 6 videos a month.
  • Curate user-generated content in line with our brand’s guidelines and standards
  • Represent the brand on social media by appearing on posts, videos, reels, stories, and other content pieces, where required.
  • Write compelling captions and hooks to drive engagement across all platforms.

Scheduling

  • Schedule or post all social media content.

Reporting

  • Report on social data weekly and monthly in order to evolve GVI’s strategy and achieve defined goals.

Community management

  • Provide excellent customer service and grow GVI’s engagement with users by responding to comments and messages timeously, on-brand and accurately.

  YouTube 

  • Alongside the Communications Strategist, develop and implement a YouTube strategy for GVI, with the goal of growing a successful YouTube channel.

 Operations & collaboration

  • Assist the team with other marketing activities as and when required. 
  • Share your knowledge with and train the wider GVI marketing team where requested. 
  • Communicate clearly and timeously with the Operations team, following the marketing team’s briefing, review and submission processes to ensure effective team collaboration and task management via our project management platform.

What we’re looking for

  • 5 years experience in social media management & experience within strategy (incl experience on TikTok)
  • Experience growing significant audiences on Instagram & TikTok
  • The ability to understand the levers that lead to rapid social media growth and apply those to the GVI context
  • Experience marketing to a Gen-Z audience
  • Experience marketing to an international audience (UK & US ideal)
  • Agency experience preferred
  • Skilled in ideating, scripting and briefing creators to get optimal content.
    A structured, organised individual with good attention to detail
  • A team player: this role requires close collaboration with multiple team members
  • Passion for or knowledge of key social and environmental issues
  • Travel experience is advantageous
