Specialist: Elastic Stack Engineer needed at BCX

Core Description

• We’re looking for an experienced Specialist: Elastic Stack Engineer to design, implement, and maintain observability and logging solutions using the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
• It is a highly technical role and will require you to work closely with DevOps and Application teams to build scalable, real-time data pipelines and dashboards that empower data-driven decisions and ensure system reliability.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Design, deploy, and maintain Elastic Stack infrastructure for centralized logging and observability.
• Develop and manage Logstash pipelines and custom Beats for multi-source data ingestion.
• Optimize Elasticsearch performance for indexing, searching, and data retention.
• Create and maintain custom Kibana dashboards for real-time monitoring and reporting.
• Collaborate with DevOps and App teams to define and implement logging standards.
• Implement security best practices, including role-based access control within Elastic Stack.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats components.
• Monitor system performance and fine-tune cluster health and scalability.
• Stay current with Elastic Stack updates and contribute to adoption of new features.
• Ensure high availability and resilience of Elastic Stack in production environments.
• Integrate Elastic Stack with CI/CD workflows and cloud-native platforms.
• Support observability initiatives with SIEM, APM, and analytics use cases where applicable

Minimum Qualifications

• NQF 6: 3 year Degree/ Diploma/ National Diploma in Computer Science or IT/Engineering

Additional Education -Preferred /Advantage

Experience

• 5 years of hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) with solid understanding of scripting languages and configuration tools, experience with monitoring, alerting etc.

Or

• 7 years of hands-on experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats) with solid understanding of scripting languages and configuration tools, experience with monitoring, alerting etc.

Certifications

• Elastic Certified Engineer
