Specialist Engineering Artisan needed at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• Plumbing Trade Test certificate in accordance with S26D of the Skills Development Act, Act 97 of 1998. (Red seal)
• 3-5 years’ post-apprenticeship experience
• Code C driver’s licence
• PrDP will be advantageous
• SAP literacy will be advantageous
• Knowledge of reticulation networks and plumbing/construction processes as well as Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Physically fit and able-bodied
• Ability to lift heavy manhole covers, carry heavy equipment and fit into confined spaces
• Required to work in all weather conditions
• Required to work outside normal working hours during emergencies, perform standby duties and planned overtime
• Willingness to enter confined areas.

Key Performance Areas

• Network control and monitoring to ensure optimal operation of water reticulation system
• Troubleshooting to ensure faults are detected and repaired and functionality restored with minimal disruption
• Inspections to ensure maintenance and repair sequences are efficient and effective
• Activating and coordinating appropriate technical response teams to ensure that defects are attended to with optimal efficiency.
• Capture relevant feedback on service request/ maintenance orders/ job cards
• Preparing resource requirements and completing service/works orders
• Reviewing drawings and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Performs activities within a trade that involves designing, constructing, repairing, fabricating, fault finding and diagnostics. Uses the full range of appropriate tools and equipment.
• Complete inspection reports for the attention of the supervisor.
• Works independently and required to supervise staff.
