Purpose Statement

  • To initiate, monitor and control suitable legal processes to ensure the optimal realisation of various collateral types held across all product offerings in respect of the relevant non-performing loan portfolio
  • To provide specialist inputs relating to Legal Collections towards:
  • maximising recoveries and impairment releases 
  • minimising recovery costs and impairment raises
  • Financial assessment, negotiation and restructure of distressed debt

Experience
Minimum:

  • Admitted attorney / advocate 
  • At least 2 – 3 years post-admission experience in civil and/or commercial litigation practice

Ideal:

  • 3+ years post-admission experience in civil and/or commercial litigation practice, comprising of 2+ years in a Collections and Recoveries space.

Qualifications (Minimum)

  • A relevant post graduate degree in Law or Commerce

Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • Masters Degree in Law or Business Administration

Knowledge
Minimum: 

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the Collections and Recoveries environment
  • Insolvency legislation and processes 
  • Credit legislation and processes
  • Banking and Financial Services Industry
  • Litigation processes
  • Debt Recovery processes 
  • Collateral variants / types 

Ideal:
Understanding of:

  • Commercial, business, and financial principles and practices 
  • Governance and risk management principles
  • Data analytics
  • Banking and Financial Services Industry (ideal)
