What We’re Looking For
- To ensure the timeous and accurate processing of salaries, increase calculations and other remuneration benefits (tax directives, incentive schemes, benefit schemes, team awards, etc.) of Capitec Bank employees. To provide specialist and subject matter expertise on payroll related matters and employee tax submissions (including running of IRP5s and applying for tax directives at SARS).
Key Performance Areas
Processing of payroll functions
- Payroll planning and data
- Reconciliation and payment
- Internal and external query resolution
- Payroll reporting
Payroll and tax administration
- Responsible for processing SARS monthly, mid-year and year-end submissions (EMP201s, IRP5s, EMP501s, Return of Earnings – Compensation Fund, and Tax directives)
- Responsible for ensuring all reports, audits and taxes are completed and compliant with SARS regulations and company policies
- Coordinate the exchange of accurate information during Payroll audits
Best practice and knowledge sharing
- Keep up to date with changes in the payroll land-scape, including changes in relevant legislation (Basic Conditions of Employment Act – BCEA, Employment Equity Act – EEA, etc.)
- Maintain a working understanding of relevant payroll systems, and stay updated with any enhancements or changes relating to the existing payroll system.
- Share knowledge, coach and guide Payroll Officers in day-to-day tasks.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Responsible for educating and training business stakeholders and team members on payroll principles and processes
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and teamwork.
- Engage with auditors (internal and external), and ensure the distribution of accurate information.
- Engage with payroll system developer to raise and address technical issues and queries.
Experience
Minimum:
- 5 years’ experience in payroll processing and administration in an enterprise business / banking / financial environment
- 2 – 3 years’ proven experience with tax calculations and SARS
Qualifications (Minimum)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Human Resources
Technical competencies
- Good understanding on the application of PAYE principles
- Must be able to resolve PAYE queries on payslip
- Good knowledge and understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
- Ability to prove calculations on the payslip
- SAP and Success Factors payroll software experience
- Microsoft word, Excel experience
- Financial acumen and working within financial environment
- Good knowledge of SARS E@syfile and E-filing
- SAPA Accreditation will be preferrable
