About the Role
Stock Controllers manage medical and operational inventory using SAP, Workday, and Oracle, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
A vacancy exists for a Stock Controller at Life Brooklyn Day Hospital, reporting to the Nursing Standards Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective management of stock in Theatre and the Ward. The successful incumbent will be dynamic; team and service orientated and have a passion for stock management.
Critical Outputs
- Take full responsibility for all aspects of stock control in the hospital,
- Ordering and management of Ethical / Surgical stock according to the needs of the,
- Assist with managing Unrecorded Liabilities, MIR6 and GRIR reports as appropriate,
- Responsibility to ensure Cycle Counts in all Units are planned, captured and variances are investigated and signed off on a monthly basis,
- Receiving, checking, and unpacking stock whilst checking orders against invoices,
- Responsible for maintaining stock and dead stock as per the agreed levels,
- Assist with stock purchases and stock control,
- Capture all invoices, address supplier queries and process credits daily,
- Issue and capture requisitions of stock to the wards and theatre daily,
- Perform stock rotation and check expiry dates of all stock items systematically,
- General administrative functions as requested,
- Responsible for the correct ordering and receipting of stock,
- Processing of stock transfers in good time,
- Any clerical duties allocated by Management,
- Hospital and within the budgeted stock days,
- Reporting and following up of all outstanding and back orders timeously,
- Build and maintain good relationships within all departments and suppliers,
- Updating charge sheets for all units with any changes, additions or deletions monthly,
- Utilization of Management reports e.g. Negative Stock, Purchases Price Variance, etc.,
- Communicate out of stock and maintain back-order letter register,
- Set up and maintenance of preferred stock levels, and daily ordering of stock to ensure a quality pharmaceutical supply service
- Active involvement in stock-takes and cycle counts,
- Assist with non-recoverable utilization,
- Focus on implementation of formulary products,
- Ensuring accurate receiving and receipting of surgical stock,
- Capturing of prosthesis and consignment invoices and transfers to theatre,
- Capturing and handling product complaints,
- Resolving queries from relevant stakeholders,
- Ensuring a culture of quality in our business and operational excellence,
- Report 100% of inventory incidents and alerts and assist to implement remedial actions,
- Participate in the implementation and compliance to LHC Quality management systems,
- Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy,
- Build effective working relationships with doctors and other stakeholders in the hospital.
- All of the above outputs to be carried out in accordance with our standard operating procedures and protocols
Requirements
- Matric,
- Must be computer literate,
- Knowledge of Life Healthcare systems will be an advantage,
- Sound knowledge of at least 2 years on stock control in a hospital environment,
- Ability to communicate effectively,
- Precise and meticulous in work,
- Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage,
- Proficiency in the SAP stock management system, will be an advantage,
- A person who is results orientated, pays attention to detail, has excellent interpersonal as well as communication skills is needed,
- Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently and the management of time is required,
- Ability to work in a stressful environment,
