About the Role

The Supplier Quality Manager drives high-RPM excellence by managing third-party manufacturing data and ensuring 100% compliance with global safety and quality standards. Utilizing SAP for resource orchestration and ServiceNow for quality incident tracking, the manager minimizes operational risk in the supply chain. Their leadership leverages data-driven diagnostics to optimize supplier performance and ensures the technical integrity of the group’s international product portfolio.

REQUREMENT

Qualification(s)

  • Degree in Food Science or Food Technology or other relevant qualification

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within quality and food safety in a FMCG environment, minimum 5 years leadership/management experience.
  • Working experience in a food processing & manufacturing environment, supplier management, consumer customer complaints management, Laboratory management, internal /supplier auditing, managing contract manufacturers.
  • Excellent knowledge of the applicable quality & food safety systems (ISO, FSCC 22000, PRP’s, HACCP, GMP, etc.) and the application thereof. Excellent knowledge of the applicable quality & food safety systems (ISO, FSCC 22000, PRP’s, HACCP, GMP, etc.)  and the application thereof.

Reason for Essential qualification & Skills

  • This role requires a solid understanding of technological and scientific background on food and applicable standards for Quality and Food Safety.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for delivering of the set standards are 3PMs, Suppliers and DCs.
  • Industry knowledge is a must as this will enable the incumbent to be able and capable to make important decisions on risk management

Complexities within the role

  • Be able to manage and participate in difficult conversations.
  • Be able to travel to Suppliers, 3PMs and DCs
  • Have a Risk Based Approach Mindset, to be able to risk assess and risk manage to provide a positive outcome/s.

Career Growth & Education

A degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or Quality Management is mandatory, with an MBA or Lean Six Sigma certification highly preferred. Career progression leads toward Global Head of Quality or Supply Chain Director roles by mastering digital quality transformation. Participating in specialized bootcamps in AI-driven procurement and obtaining global quality certifications provides a pathway to high-paying leadership positions in the international FMCG sector.

Salary & Financial Insight

Estimated monthly salaries range from R65,000 to R115,000, reflecting the high technical and strategic demand. High-income managers should prioritize professional wealth management and offshore investment diversification to protect their long-term capital growth effectively.
