Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Agrees standard delivery schedules with customers at operations.
  • Liaises with customers on urgent and emergency orders.
  • Arranges direct deliveries from suppliers
  • Adheres to stores operating procedures, to achieve efficiency in the store under the guidance of the Supply Chain Officer/Supply Chain Supervisor. These would include scheduling, receiving, storage, issuing and Materials Handling processes.
  • Verifies quality, condition and correctness of measure of all material received directly from suppliers and from another store.
  • Returns materials where necessary.
  • Ensures effective and accurate issuing of material from stock – including picking, packing, staging and notification of customers.
  • Issues fuel and capture consumption information accurately.
  • Applies correct procedures for issuing of emergency and after-hours orders.
  • Undertakes good housekeeping practices at the stores
  • Keeps records accurately, to ensure integrity of administration systems at the stores
  • Assistance with GSS queries and action GR/IR discrepancies.
  • Accurately documents and reports on transport claims.
  • Verifies consumption of consignment stock.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement in stores operations
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with:
  • Supply Chain Supervisor, Supply Chain Officer and colleagues Customers (End users) Buyers and Suppliers
  • Understands the interaction between the DCs, operational stores and customers. Realises the importance of good customer service to the Production Units, and behave accordingly.
  • Receives documents, investigates and responds to customer queries. Meets commitments in respect of response times.
  • Adheres to performance standards at the stores (as specified by Service Level Agreements with the Production Units).
  • Undertakes work processes with integrity. Rejects any opportunity to steal valuable materials, or otherwise defraud the company.
  • Reports on any incidents of shrinkage or fraud that are observed.
  • Ensures accurate date input into the SAP system.
  • Performs cycle counting to ensure that system records and stock on hand are congruent at all times.
  • Understands how to use the SAP MM module. Uses this knowledge for effective processing of all materials transactions at the relevant store, and for basic problem solving activities.
  • Operates all HOP equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Report any defects to HOP assets to Supply Officer: HOP
  • Complies with applicable safety regulations, and NOSA operating practices.
  • Minimises stock losses through proper materials handling.
  • Works effectively with colleagues at the HOPs.
  • Communicates positively with colleagues and supervisors. Contributes to a positive, motivational working environment at the HOPs.
  • Assists in the induction of new recruits.
  • Participates positively in team training sessions.
  • Helps to show new recruits the correct operating procedures

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualifications
  • Material Management Certificate, or equivalent (advantageous)

Experience

  • At least 6 months experience within a materials management environment in a large operation, utilizing SAP or similar system
  • Relevant Materials Handling Equipment

Knowledge and Skills

  • Valid drivers license code 8
  • Relevant Materials Handling Equipment licence.
  • Fully trained and experienced to accept responsibility after a three-month Induction programme.
