Description
Role Context
Compliance, Risk and Safety
- Identify and report all substandard conditions to prevent physical risk to on-site personnel.
- Maintain and standardise mining plans to meet the Layer Management regulated requirements, reporting on all deviations from mining layouts.
Draughting
- Translate raw draughting information, including field survey data, measurements and observations into electronic plans and diagrams, maintaining accuracy, precision and adherence to Departmental standards and procedures pertaining to draughting.
- Prepare, create and maintain statutory and non-statutory rehabilitation plans, survey plans, maps and drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with Department of Mineral Resources (DMRE) standards and projects requirements.
- Update the mine’s working plans on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis, to effectively communicate current survey information.
- Address internal requests by supplying plans and portions of plans for surface and mining rights to other Departments.
- Prepare and produce all plans required for planning review and presentations to portray a true reflection of mining operations and geological features on plan that will support management decision making.
- Maintain up-to-date and signed DMRE prescribed plans, according to Chapter 17 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, to enable the provision of legal reporting as required by DMRE.
- Collate all information required for the compliance of hard copy plans and digital copies for DMRE submission for the responsible areas.
- Maintain organised electronic records of drawings, plans and related documentation for future reference.
Financial Contribution
- Maintain budget control for own area to control wastage of printing resources and consumables.
- Advise on operational anomalies to prevent financial loss.
Operational Efficiencies
- Import and export electronic information from other systems to resolve internal data requests in the required format.
- Stay abreast with latest CAD software tools, techniques and industry trends to enhance proficiency and productivity.
- Contribute to Systems Development by providing insight related to survey software, to enable alignment between survey systems and software.
Resource Management
- Determine resource needs within own area of responsibility to achieve individual role outcomes.
- Request required assets and resources for the fulfilment of work duties to attain quality work outputs.
- Use assets and resources optimally within own area of responsibility.
Stakeholder Relations
- Engage with all relevant Departments on issues of the area of specialisation, as directed by the Manager.
- Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships.
- Collaborate with surveyors and projects teams to understand project specifications and incorporate relevant information into drawings.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (NQF4).
- Advanced Survey Draughting Certificate/ Geographic Information Systems Degree (NQF6).
- National Diploma/National Higher Diploma/B-Tech Degree (NQF7) are advantageous.
Job-specific experience:
- Minimum of between three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience in an underground and open pit mining environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software and a solid understanding of Draughting principles.
- Experience in DESWIK systems is advantageous.
- Experience in an Open Pit environment is advantageous.
