Key Responsibilities

  • Performing requirement development based on reference and applicable documents in close collaboration with relevant specialists, local and international Standards, Certification, Safety and Customer requirements.
  • Defining system architecture, operational modes and functions based on external/internal requirements.
  • Performing the specialist field (e.g. EMC, Acoustics, and Fire Protection) requirement allocation to the various subsystems in close collaboration with local and international experts.
  • Performing train system FMECA in coordination with RAMS team.
  • Ensuring consistency and compatibility between all the sub-systems specifications.
  • Writing sub-system specification and architecture description in collaboration with the sub system engineers, other engineering sites and other engineering departments.
  • Supporting the Train System Engineer to define applicable train configurations.
  • Ensuring coordination between Sub Systems, various engineering sites and central engineering on interfaces, performances, technical issues resolution during detailed design phase.
  • Participating in technical meetings with the customer.
  • Working with the sourcing department to write technical product specifications for equipment to be procured, holding technical discussions with suppliers, participating in the supplier development and testing of their products.  To discuss with suppliers about non-performing/non-compliant topics in the warranty phase.
  • Drives technical development of the product until GFV in close relationship with suppliers.
  • Defining and performing Train verification strategy in close collaboration with all Engineering departments, Certification & Validation teams, Train Sub System Team and Participating Units.
  • Writing the train level test specifications and sub system test specifications when needed.
  • Performing integration and tuning on the train.
  • Complete management of technical open issues from investigation to modification implementation and problem closure.
  • Performing reporting at project level and métier level (via weekly reports).
  • Supporting TSE for implementation and update of Engineering risks mitigation plan, change order process and QCD optimisation.
  • Prepares DR with suppliers (sub-system/product level) or with TSE (train/product integration level).
  • Manages the technical Sub-System ESLI/RAPR.
  • Ensures that standard key design rules are applied with Platform and Sourcing colleagues.
  • Ensures that the Métiers tools are well applied (connector, costing tool, DRCL ….).
  • Execute activities given by the Train System Engineer (TSE).
  • Update the Validation Plan.
  • Write Train System test procedures.
  • Ensure the timely issuing of the Validation proves (including proves of lower level systems and components) and consolidates Validation files.
  •  Provide structured Return of experience (REX) to feed costing activities, to be implemented in Reference Solutions, and to enrich the CV metier technical repository.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc / B.Eng. in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/ Mechatronics/Electro-Mechanical Degree.
  • Registered or Registerable as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (preference will be given to candidates with experience in the railway industry).

Special Requirements

  • General technical competencies in Engineering.
  • Understanding of Pneumatic Diagrams and symbols .
  • Written and Oral communication in English.
