Position specifications

  • Educational (minimum level necessary to perform the job)

Professional/Tertiary

  • B.Com in Accounting or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Post-graduate Tax qualification or significant experience in similar roles (preference will go do HDipTax / Masters in Tax holders)

Other requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Office, Word

Experience (minimum years of experience and in which fields, required to perform the job)

  • Must have experience in compilation and submission of Income Tax and VAT returns for mid-sized corporations in South Africa.
  • Experience with managing payroll related taxation (PAYE, UIF etc.).
  • Experience with cross-border, transfer pricing and export transactions.
  • Experience with managing foreign withholding tax and the taxation of permanent establishments.
  • Tax/Accounting experience, minimum 10 years
  • Experience in a professional services firm preferable

  • Coordinate with accounting staff and tax advisory professionals.
  • Improve processes by implementing best practices.

Tax Provision and Compliance:

  • Manage tax provision and compliance processes.

  • Maintain tax balances on the general ledger.

Leadership

  • Primarily responsible for establishing a tax compliance office in South Africa, with all ancillary controls and checks.
  • Includes but not limited to Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Taxes, PAYE etc.
  • Review all regulatory tax submissions for the region (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Mauritius and South Africa)
  • Acts as key resource in tax compliance changes.
