JOB PURPOSE: 

  • The Tax & Reporting Accountant will be responsible for various technically oriented finance and tax related project deliverables, compilation of reporting packs and annual financial statements; direct tax returns and general tax administration as well as the optimization of the use of the ERP within the finance department.  This role will assist the Finance Manager in the management of all areas of the finance department including but not limited to:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

IFRS Reporting

  • Preparation of monthly general journals
  • Preparation of monthly income and deferred tax journals
  • Assisting with quarterly, half year and year-end deliverables (including Board Reporting)
  • Preparation of subsidiary statutory financial statements

Budgets/Forecasts

  • Preparation of balance sheet for forecasts and budget
  • Preparation of the budgeted cashflow statement
  • Preparation of the cash flow forecast

Tax Reporting & Administration:

  • Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of the Wear & Tear register
  • Reviewing of all tax schedules
  • Preparation of provisional tax calculations for all SA entities
  • Preparation of responses to SARS tax queries
  • Reconciliation of tax GL accounts
  • Maintenance of all SA Group tax opinions
  • Maintenance of E-filing profile
  • Preparation of tax returns for all SA entities
  • Maintain overall view of tax compliance in Group (VAT, PAYE, Income tax)

General:

  • Quarterly and annual SARB reporting
  • ERP champion in finance driving automation and optimisation
  • Other finance related projects
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in the overall management of the finance department
  • Assisting with Financial Year End deliverables, including the financial audit.
  • Banking admin and profile maintenance

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • CA (SA) qualification.
  • 2+ years’ relevant working experience
  • Computer literacy – MS Office (With a high proficiency in MS Excel).
  • Strong IFRS knowledge and experience.
  • Strong interest in tax
  • Leadership and managerial skills
  • Excellent knowledge of group accounts and consolidations.
  • Team player (very important). Does not work in isolation. Collaborative personality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; Good decision – making skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Innovative; Analytical; Conceptual thinking.
  • Work independently and as a part of a team; Business understanding; Initiating action; Drive and energy.
