Duties/Pligte        
The incumbent will be involved in the following:

General Technical Support

  • Setting up audiovisual systems for sessions;
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues;
  • Liaising with the IT Department on software updates for all computers in the SCSU;
  • Setting up Teams meetings for streaming sessions;
  • Streamlining and improving technical processes.

Simulation Support

  • Preparing for teaching sessions (venues, equipment, disposables and technical requirements);
  • Establishing and maintaining connectivity of manikins, AV system, monitors and WiFi;
  • Maintenance, repair and cleaning of manikins and task trainers;
  • Liaising with company representatives in case in-house repairs are not possible;
  • Overseeing software updates for all equipment;
  • Training the Faculty in simulation technology;
  • Maintenance and repairs of the QCPR manikins;
  • Lending assistance to students in case of technical difficulties related to equipment, and obtaining practice materials.

 Equipment Inventory

  • Assisting the line manager and administrator with asset register updates and management;
  • Signing in and out of loan equipment on the fifth  floor.

Maintenance

  • Reporting any maintenance issues to Facilities Management or relevant department;
  • Reporting any damages and repairs that need to be done.

Occupation Health and Safety

  • Accepting appointment as OHS rep;
  • Attending OHS training and meetings;
  • Submitting monthly OHS reports.

General

  • Performing ad hoc tasks as instructed by the line manager, e.g OSCE assistance and preparation, simulated patient duties, cleaning and repackaging.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

  • National senior certificate;
  • Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
  • Has completed a Microsoft Office 365 training course within the past five years;
  • At least one year of technical support experience;
  • At least one year of audiovisual experience;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and Afrikaans;
  • The ablity to be a team player;
  • Adaptability to a dynamic work environment.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

  • CompTIA A+ training will be beneficial;
  • Have experience in health profession simulation, or is enthusiastic to learn;
  • Experience with Laerdal manikins and software;
  • Some medical background;
  • Some form of tertiary education (degree or diploma or certificate).
