Job Description:
Audit Planning and Scheduling

  • Assist with the development of an annual plan for operational risk and capital project audit projects for the Group, based on assessment of key risks and an assurance framework covering operations and capital projects.
  • Audit Project Management
  • Assist with the delivery of the operational risk assurance plan for the Group.  Plan, resource and manage delivery of operation and capital project audits so that projects are delivered on time ensuring consistent application of methodology and standards.
  • Conducting audits
  • Ensure that all assignments are conducted in accordance with ABAS standards, methodology and are in line with the annual plan.
  • Deliver audits in a way that acts as a catalyst for change and improvement.
  • Audit Analysis
  • Assist with conducting analysis of Operational Risk Assurance audit findings within Group to identify themes and issues for management to address.  Communicate findings to HR&A’s and other stakeholders regarding ramifications of control weaknesses.
  • Verification of management actions
  • Prepare analysis of actions arising from Operational Risk Assurance audit findings within Group as they are closed by management to obtain evidence for T&S/subject matter experts to verify adequacy of action taken by management.
  • Audit Committee/Risk and Assurance Meetings
  • Assist with the preparation of all Operational Risk Assurance papers for the business audit, safety & sustainable development committees or operational management for review by line manager.
  • Assist with the preparation of submissions of Operational Risk Assurance results for AA plc audit, sustainability committees for review by line manager.
  • Attend meetings and participate as necessary in the presentation of key audit and risk matters to executive management or audit and safety & sustainable development committees.
  • ABAS/T&S Assurance Meetings
  • Contribute to the development of Operational Risk Assurance through active participation in ABAS Assurance management meetings and discussions.  Contribute to the development of the methodology for Operational Risk Assurance.
  • Health, Safety & Environment:
  • Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety and environmental standards and with the Group’s values.
  • Adhere to the health, safety and environmental expectations for your team ensuring your behaviour meets the required standards.
  • Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues.
  • Participate in the monthly Anglo Platinum HPI management calls.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering university degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or similar).
  • Operational or project experience in mining / minerals sector.

Technical Knowledge: 

  • Relevant company policies, procedures, standards and controls including Group Technical Standards.
  • Operational, social and environmental challenges in mining / minerals sector.
  • Apply a broad range of data analytical techniques to draw conclusions and optimise performance.
  • Apply Governance and Compliance knowledge within the business to mitigate risk and identify new ways to assess adherence.
  • Understand the “bigger picture” and how this drives projects and business cases.
