ROLE IMPACT

• This role is responsible for providing hands-on technical support to the explosive's accessories assembly plants during normal processing as well as for product, process development, project support and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Activities & Decision Areas

• Provision of technical and assembly plant support;
• Ensuring manufacturing is efficient
• Process research and optimization projects
• Product development or process trials,
• Product performance evaluation
• Customer complaint investigations
• Occasional training and supervision of operational staff during normal production or plant trials.
• Drive continuous improvement strategies for plant optimization.
• Coordinating six sigma improvement projects within the automation production environment.
• Occasional travel to support international assembly plants
• Work with suppliers to optimize processes

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• BSc or B.Eng. in Electronics/Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics engineering or equivalent
• 3 years' working experience in an automated manufacturing plant (Advantageous)
• Six-sigma certification (Advantageous)
• Industrial automation qualification (Advantageous)

Experience

• 3 years demonstrated experience as a technician/ technical officer or technical specialist in a manufacturing assembly environment.
• 2 years demonstrated experience in an explosives plant and assembly plant.
• 1 year experience working with industrial robots and PLC's
• 1 year working experience in an Explosives environment (Desired)

Key Competencies

• Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a hands-on capacity to solve processing constraints.
• Ability to work hands-on and assist technicians with equipment breakdowns.
• Ability to train non-technical staff on technical process aspects.
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with processing staff, process leaders and internal customers
