About the Role

Theatre Operations Managers oversee surgical theatre performance using platforms like SAP, Oracle, and Workday, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.

A vacancy exists for a Theatre Operations Manager based at Life Kingsbury Hospital reporting to the Nurse Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating the non-clinical aspects of the operating theatre, focusing on optimizing processes, and ensuring smooth business operations to support the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care within the theatre complex to achieve the Company & Hospitals strategic objectives of Growth, Efficiency, Quality and Sustainability.

Critical Outputs

Resource Management

  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient allocation of non-clinical staff, equipment, and supplies
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure optimal utilization of operating theatre resources
  • Manage inventory levels and oversee procurement processes for non-clinical supplies and equipment

Financial Management

  • Prepare and manage operating theatre budgets in collaboration with the Theatre Manager
  • Analyse financial performance and provide regular reports to senior management
  • Identify improved efficiency opportunities
  • Assist with Value-Based Care initiatives within the operating theatre, with a critical focus on enhancing efficiency.

Process Efficiency

  • Analyse current operational processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for non-clinical activities
  • Implement and oversee scheduling systems to maximize theatre utilization
  • Collaborate with Theatre Manager and clinical staff to streamline patient flow and reduce turnaround times

Equipment Management

  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of non-clinical equipment
  • Coordinate with biomedical engineering for the upkeep of clinical equipment
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve operational efficiency

Compliance and Quality Assurance (non-clinical)

  • Ensure compliance of non-clinical processes with relevant healthcare regulations and standards in collaboration with Theatre Manager
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs for non-clinical operations
  • Coordinate with clinical teams to support overall quality improvement initiatives

Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and manage non-clinical staff in the operating theatre
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff

Reporting and Communication

  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to Nursing and Hospital Manager in collaboration with Theatre Management
  • Liaise with clinical leaders to align business operations with clinical needs
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders including surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Management, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in operations management. Previous experience in healthcare setting highly desirable.
  • Participative and collaborative management style. Capacity to lead, foster and develop a healthy and positive working environment, which actively promotes a joint performance and value, based culture.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Contemporaneous knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial relations, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a workplace environment that develops staff potential.
