Job Description

• My client, a multinational and in the commodity trading industry is looking for a detail-driven Trade Accountant to join a high-performing Oil & Energy Finance team based in Gauteng.

• You’ll be supporting the preparation of financial statements and monthly management accounts for several international entities involved in the marketing of Oil, Natural Gas, Power and Environmental products.
• The team plays a key role in ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls, and continuous improvement of finance processes across multiple regions.

You’ll Be Involved In

• Managing intercompany reconciliations and ensuring accuracy across global entities
• Performing Front-to-Back reconciliations between trading systems and back-office finance systems
• Preparing and reviewing P/L and balance sheet reconciliations
• Handling inventory and broker reconciliations
• Matching third-party invoices to cash receipts/payments
• Working closely with Treasury on cash allocations
• Month-end activities including journals and adjustments
• Supporting system upgrades, automation initiatives, and process enhancements
• Liaising with teams across the UK, US, Switzerland and Singapore
• Assisting with internal and external audits
• Contributing to monthly reporting packs, analysis, and insights
• Ad-hoc finance and accounting tasks linked to global marketing operations

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Studying or interested in CIMA / ACCA / SAIPA / CFA
• 3-5 years experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong exposure to reconciliations, month-end, journals, and management accounts
• SAP experience is beneficial
• Experience in commodity trading, energy, oil & gas, or a multinational environment is a strong advantage
• Excellent Excel skills
• Comfortable working with international teams using digital collaboration tools (e.g. Teams)
• Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
