Trade Effluent Controller needed at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Grade twelve (12) or relevant post-Matric qualification, preferably a NTC3 in Water Treatment or Wastewater Treatment.
• Trade-related qualification: Operator’sCertificate/Waste Water Treatment Practice (N3).
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence.
• Two to five years’ experience required.

• The physical attributes associated with this post necessitate that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.
• Special conditions associated to the position:
• Incumbent is required to work in all weather conditions.
• Overtime work could become necessary during peak periods.
• Required to work shifts.

Job purpose:

• Supervising and controlling the Trade Effluent Section through operating as pollution law enforcement officers, calculating the charge factors of the Budget and Treasury Business Unit to recover revenue to effluent treatment services rendered to the industries, conducting accurate assessment of industrial effluent strength and volume discharge, monitoring public pollution control, and issuing permits and monitoring industry to ensure compliance in terms of Water Services By-Law.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
