About the Role

This essential logistics role manages high-RPM transport data and ensures 100% compliance with cross-border customs and safety regulations. Utilizing SAP for cargo tracking and mobile logistics platforms, the driver reduces operational risk through meticulous record-keeping and precise materials handling.

The position of Cross Border Driver has become available at Triton Express in Johannesburg.

  • Distributing and collecting of client’s cargo
  • Assisting with loading and offloading of cargo from the vehicle
  • Collecting and completing daily collections & delivery sheets if required
  • Daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle
  • Vehicle fault reporting – as and when required
  • Ensuring care is taken when client’s cargo is being loaded and off loaded from vehicle
  • Ensuring that the addresses given for deliveries / collections are correct
  • Ensuring that contact is always kept with depot
  • Ensuring that no deviations from delivery / collection sheets takes place without authorization 
  • Liaise with Customs Officials
  • Assisting with presenting cargo at customs for inspection purposes
  • Exercising patience with customs officials and always liaising with authorities with respect
  • Keep all documents secured and hand over to receiving branch

Requirements

  • Grade 12 minimum (Matric)
  • 1-2 years driving experience
  • A valid unendorsed code 10 driver’s license
  • Valid PDP
  • A good geographical knowledge of the Johannesburg area
  • Valid passport
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A good command of the English language both verbally and written
  • Ability to communicate both internally and externally
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Ability to work overtime as and when required due to clients’ requirements
  • Reliable
  • A high degree of integrity required
  • Presentable and of a professional manner always
  • Own transport to and from work
  • Punctuality a must and linehaul departures to be on time

Career Growth & Education

A Code 14 license and Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) are the primary requirements, with career growth leading to Fleet Supervisor or Logistics Coordinator roles. Completing specialized workshops in supply chain management and obtaining certifications in dangerous goods transport provides a path to more senior administrative and management roles.
