The Person

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to manage the reporting and statutory financial function of Otraco and ensure capital and resources are utilised optimally. This role will ultimately be responsible for maintaining the business financial compliance objectives. The Accountant: Reporting & Statutory will support the Head of Finance in achieving Company’s targets, always ensuring that all relevant financial and regulatory requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner, as well as business guidelines and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Grade 12 National Certificate
  • Appropriate BCom degree or equivalent degree
  • Major/subject: Finance, Economics and Accounting
  • Proficient in Ms Office Packages, advanced level

Preferred

  •  Proven experience in a similar finance role
  •  Strong Accounting, Taxation and Auditing knowledge
  •  Length > 4-6 years’ experience
  •  Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  •  Strong organizational and time management abilities.

Duties

  • The following is a general list of tasks that the candidate is required to perform. The Company may add to or vary these duties from time to time provided the variation is reasonable having regard to the employee’s skills, competence and training.
  •  Preparing weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting as required, in accordance with
  • applicable accounting standards,
  •  Customer contractual Localised Supplier Development reporting,
  •  B-BBEE compliance and audit processes.
  •  Budgeting and forecasting,
  •  Administer and control accounting processes and procedures,
  •  Statutory accounts: Income Tax, VAT, Import VAT (Namibia & Botswana),
  •  Company secretarial services,
  •  Insurance, Tender support and CAS compliance,
  •  Balance Sheet reconciliations: Assets, Inventory, Accounts Receivable/Payable, Bank and Cash,
  •  Ensure that all activities performed in the Finance department are done in compliance with legal & tax requirements in all the countries within the region as well as group requirements/procedures,
  •  Establish internal control procedures and ensure that administrative, accounting, credit and financial procedures and policy standards are respected and maintained,
  •  Support internal-external audits and JSOX activities.
