Description

Requirements :

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent. Basic Diploma/Degree that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least six (06) years of the period referred above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience in Trauma Specialty or Critical Care after obtaining a one (01) year post-basic qualification in relevant specialty.
  • Diploma or Degree in Health Service Management/ Nursing Administration or Management. At least three (3) years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience at management level. Proof of current year SANC registration. Demonstrate computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to compile presentations and draft professional reports. SKILLS: Strong Leadership skills, Good Communication, Conflict management/ Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

Duties :

  • Delegate, supervise and coordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate Specialized Trauma or Critical Care nursing care aligned to Nursing guidelines, practices, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure proper allocation and utilization of human, financial and physical resources for different departments including effective bed management. Establish and maintain constructive working relationship with clinical and non-clinical staff that will allow consistent flow of patient care by a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinate priority programs e.g. Inter-facility referral system. Ensure compliance with Health and safety standards and IHRM (Ideal Hospital Realization and Maintenance) and OHSC (Office of Health Standard Compliance) including safe standards for emergency readiness, disaster management and prevention/ management of patient safety incidents. Maintain professional growth, ethical standards and development of self and subordinates through ongoing training and research.
  • Provide support to staff regarding clinical and non-clinical matters and engage in problem solving/ conflict management. Ensure effective Data governance. Guide and supervise implementation of Operational plans as guided by GDOH Annual Performance plan. Demonstrate willingness and flexibility to work weekends and public holidays as required by operational needs. Knowledge of PFMA and Supply Chain Management Regulations and other regulatory framework
