- Public Relations – Majoring in Communication.

- Related NQF Level 8 qualification Majoring in Communication.
- Applicants must have eight (8) years of experience at senior management level.

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director-General, the Deputy Director-General will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership in delivering products and platforms to ensure coherence, coordination, consistency, quality, impact, and responsiveness of Government communication.
- Providing strategic leadership on financial and non-financial organisational planning and performance for the Branch.
- Ensuring development of Government Communication and Media policies.
- Leading legislation development for GCIS entities and providing technical oversight for GCIS entities.
- Leading internal digital communication, developing strategies and plans for implementation, and ensuring coordination of digital communication and media production across the Government Communication System.
- Undertaking regular market research to inform decision-making and proactive communication.
- Developing strategies to reach all sectors of the population through GCIS-owned products and platforms and using all official languages.
- Providing strategic leadership for government media buying, media production, and marketing services.
- Ensuring continuous improvements in government communication through effective use of research.
- Ensuring good governance in the Branch, including:
- Risk and compliance management.
- People management and development.
- Prudent financial management.
- Ensuring effective management and preservation of government corporate branding across all spheres and sectors.
